There have been a few changes in the West Oxfordshire Conservative Future; with new Chairman David Lydiat elected at the December 2009 AGM. David is looking to increase membership, the number of political and social events, hold a fundraiser and of course play a key part in what we hope will be a successful general election this year.
West Oxfordshire Conservative Future (WOCF) had their first event of 2010; a dinner with guest speaker Nicola Blackwood (PPC for Oxford West and Abingdon). The dinner was a success with a good turnout. …

2010 has been dubbed the year for change by the Conservatives and people across the country, not least by students in Surrey who on Saturday 6th February visited the new state of the art Conservative Campaign centre GenEVA based at CCHQ in London. More students than ever before are supporting the Conservatives as it is clear that the other political parties do not represent realistic options for the future.
For many students this will be their first time voting and in this election students issues will be at the …

I had decided to step down as Kent Area Chairman back in the summer, but it wasn’t an easy decision to make. I felt that approaching my 32nd birthday and having seen progress in eighteen months, now was the time to hand over the reigns. There were very few CF branches in Kent when I started, and I therefore knew I had a challenge ahead, a challenge that was to ensure that if I could not get a CF branch by the end of my term then to get …

Wednesday November 25th local CF members met for the first meeting of the newly formed Portsmouth Conservative Future Branch. The new Branch comes after a lengthy period of inactivity in the city which left many younger residents and Portsmouth University students feeling left out of the political dialogue.
Momentum for the Branch’s formation picked up under two months ago following a debate hosted by the University on “Labour’s Lost Generation” between Flick Drummond, Conservative PPC for Portsmouth South and a local Labour candidate. The debate generated a lot of …

This month’s event looked so difficult, following on the heels of such a good speaker, Allan Sykes who had receive such applause – but the person who came was more than up to the challenge; delivering a speech light in tone but never failing to land to full force and import of its content, James Arbuthnot more than lived up to his status as one of the best speakers of his generation.
The 20 minute talk he gave managed to cover all areas, ranging from procurement to …

Thursday the 1st of October was the culmination of a week of Fresher focused activity by the EECF…all of which was done on a budget of £0 and a box of goodies provided by the Conservative Future National Executive.
Instead of running a stall at the Epsom Campus of the University of the Creative Arts; we ‘canvassed’ it for two days running with teams of CF committee members armed with national leaflets provided in the centrally dispatched pack. When we ran out of those we used the …

Regional Chairman Ranil Jayawardena said, “It was great to see people from across the region at our dinner in Hampshire. I very much hope that it will be the first of many regional events and will be working closely with Area Chairmen to achieve this.”
Dan Hannan MEP was as entertaining as ever and highlighted some striking parallels in his speech.
A number of guests also had …
The South East England CF inaugural event – The first of many dinners across the South East of England with our MEPs and Candidates.
Dan Hannan has been selected for the UK’s safest seat.
He said on his blog, “I ought to feel jolly pleased with myself. I have, after all, just been selected for the safest seat in the United Kingdom (except the Speaker’s constituency of Glasgow Springburn which, by tradition, is not contested by the other parties).
Tony Blair’s party list method benefits some more than others. The lucky chap who …
