By Chris Wales (Yorkshire CF Graduate Officer)
Network Blue is a Conservative network of young professionals, post-graduates and under-35s interested in Conservative policy and politics in general.
We launched the fledgling graduate network (which we have now christened “Network Blue”) on October 1st in the Royal Armouries, with William Hague as the main speaker. Over 100 individuals attended, ranging from party professionals, candidates and volunteers to members of CF/the Party and a number of interested individuals who may shortly become members (a number of which have since become involved).
The highlight of the …
The CCHQ Call centre (GenEVA), situated on the 5th Floor of Millbank Tower, is the Party’s state-of-the art automated telephone contact centre designed to support Conservative Party Campaigning across our battleground seats.
London CF has been leading the way for weeks now holding regular events and packing out the centre!
Conservative Future members have been invited to get involved with the Blue Dragon Young Professionals Network, a new grouping being launched soon by the Blue Dragon Club:
The Blue Dragon Club, a convivial meeting place for supporters of the Welsh Conservatives.
The Club is based in London and holds a variety of exciting events, both here and in Wales, throughout the year.
Our members come from far and wide, but all have their hearts in Wales and look forward to seeing our nation go from strength to strength under a Welsh Conservative …
By Benjamin Harris-Quinney – Conservatives Abroad (Madrid)
After spending the last 6 months in Madrid, Spain pushing the Conservative Agenda, I have to report that socialism in the sun is only marginally more fun.
It still features crippling unemployment, heavy-handed government and poor public services.
As deflation looms, could we face negative interest rates on student loans?
Last month the Retail Price Index (RPI) dropped to its lowest level in 49-years. This economic measure of the cost of living in the UK should be of particular interest to students and graduates who are carrying the burden of student debt.
Why and what does this mean for me?
Quite simply this should be of interest to you because the rate of interest calculated for student loans is directly linked to the rate of inflation, as measured by the RPI. …
Back in November I published plans to change Working Life and make it a professional network to ensure Conservative students didn’t fall through the ‘graduation gap’ and that young professionals could get the most out of Conservative Future.
Since then, you’ll have noticed there has been little progress.
The reality is that we are still working on this as the ultimate goal for Working Life, but the vision requires putting in place the mechanisms to make it work. This requires up-front investment of time and resources as well as database management, which …
One of the key ideas I raised in my manifesto when standing for the NME was to try and bridge the ‘graduation gap’. This is the term that I have used to identify the process of CF members who have been involved at University, graduating and moving away but never getting involved with CF or the Party where they move. michael.lunn@conservatives.com title “Working Life Graduates”; alternatively if you want to discuss more about it or how to find such a list contact me on owen@owenmeredith.co.uk.
These people fall through the ‘graduation …
A team from Exeter City and East Devon Conservative Future (ECED-CF) piled into a car last week and drove to Ottery St Mary in an effort to assist with the clean-up operation after the devastating floods of Wednesday night.
The team, all aged 20, spent the day helping elderly residents clear their drive ways and assisted council workers with the cleaning of Cul-de-sacs. Speaking to the local residents there was a strong feeling of community, all there to help each other.
James Morton, Chairman of Devon and Cornwall Conservative Future (DC-CF), commented:
“It …
As you know I have been conducting a consultation in the future of Working Life. Having taken on the Working Life portfolio, I wanted to make sure CF was doing the right thing for young professionals and working members and fulfilling our role in bridging the gap between university and association politics.
The consultation and survey results have now been analysed and I will be taking proposals for the future of Working Life to the next NME meeting on the 15th. In consultation with my colleagues on the NME I have …
As you know, over the past 2 months, I have been looking at how to improve Working Life and make it a better and more effective organisation for the future. The fist stage is over and the Working Life survey has now closed. I want to thank the 200 or so people who took part in the Working Life consultation for your time and contributions. It has been a very well received consultation and a very diverse group of people have participated, which means the results should give as accurate a picture …
